Thanks to its versatile focal range of 16-50mm (equivalent to 24-75mm in 35mm format), this lens is highly suitable for a wide range of photographic applications, from vast landscapes and architectural details to lively travel reportage and intimate portraits. This lens is specifically developed to perform optimally with cameras equipped with high-resolution sensors, resulting in extraordinary resolving power across the entire zoom range.

The internal zoom system ensures that the physical length of the lens remains consistent regardless of the chosen focal length, which improves ease of use. The presence of 9 diaphragm blades contributes to an aesthetically pleasing and round bokeh effect. The optical construction consists of 11 lens elements divided into 9 groups, including 3 extra-low dispersion (ED) and 3 aspherical elements that effectively minimise chromatic aberrations. An impressive maximum shooting magnification of 0.3x enables close-up photography, with a minimum focus distance of just 24 centimetres at the wide-angle setting and even 15 centimetres at the zoom setting, ideal for subjects like flowers or culinary items.
