DZOFilm Vespid Prime2 50mm T1.9 PL-mount lens (metric)

The DZOFilm Vespid Prime2 50mm T1.9 is a compact lens specifically designed for film productions, suitable for full-frame and Vista-Vision sensors. The lens is equipped with a PL mount and combines robust optics with functionalities for real-time metadata transfer, significantly improving workflow on set and in post-production. The optical design includes redesigned aspherical elements with multi-layer nano-coatings that effectively reduce reflections and stray light. The constant T1.9 speed offers excellent control over depth of field and performs well in low-light conditions.

This lens provides uniform image coverage with an image circle of Ø46.3mm, making it seamlessly compatible with high-end cinema cameras such as RED V-Raptor VV, ARRI Alexa LF, and Sony Venice. The lens has a consistent physical build, with a front diameter of Ø80mm, a length of 80mm, and a weight of approximately 836 grams. Manual control is extremely precise, with an iris rotation of approximately 65° and a focus ring that rotates 300°. This enables accurate focus pulls with follow-focus systems. The 10 aperture blades provide beautiful, natural bokeh.

Unique to the Vespid Prime2 series is the support for the Cooke /i protocol, which transmits real-time data on aperture, focal length, and focus distance to compatible cameras. This simplifies post-production tasks such as VFX tracking and increases efficiency on the film set. Additional accessories can be connected via a LEMO connector. This specific model is the 'metric' version, which refers exclusively to the markings on the focus ring, without affecting optical or mechanical performance.
